Church responds to misleading column in The Herald

Yesterday, The Herald published an opinion piece by Rosemary Goring titled “The Kirk’s plan to banish the elderly from services is cruel. There’s no other word for it”. The piece has caused some considerable dismay and distress among church members. Elders of Wellington will have received an email by the Assisting Minister, the Rev Dr Roger Sturrock, which highlighted that the newspaper article was not an accurate interpretation of the Church of Scotland guidelines and he made said guidance available to the Kirk Session.
