Our Congregational Life Committee is the heart of everything social at Wellington Church. Coffee and tea each Sunday, monthly lunches & community dinners, coffee mornings, movie screening, members sharing their stories, outings, autumn fair, Burns night, distric visits and much more happens because of the love, dedication, and hard work that this committee puts in.
On Wednesday 30th October at 2pm, our longtime member and elder Christine Johnston’s will tell us about her visit of San Marco, Florence. Light refreshments will also be served. We meet in the Library (accessed via the side door on 77 Southpart Avenue).
San Marco is the name of a religious complex in Florence, Italy. It comprises a church and a convent. The convent, which is now the Museo Nazionale di San Marco, has three claims to fame. During the 15th century it was home to two famous Dominicans, the painter Fra Angelico and the preacher Girolamo Savonarola. Also housed at the convent is a famous collection of manuscripts in a library built by Michelozzo.
