Every year during Lent, we appeal to the congregation to support three causes; an international, a national, and a local one. This year we will support the following charities:
International: Embrace the Middle East (www.embraceme.org)
Embrace the Middle East is a Christian charity with over 160 years’ experience helping people of all faiths and none to free themselves from a life of poverty and injustice. Together with local Christian communities they are bringing lasting change to the Middle East through healthcare, education and community development projects.
National: Macmillan Cancer Support (www.macmillan.org.uk)
Macmillan are millions of people affected by cancer: supporters, professionals, volunteers, and campaigners. They all have one thing in common – their care and support for people living with cancer. From the moment of diagnosis, through treatment and beyond, Macmillan offers emotional, physical, and financial support.
Local: Revive MS (www.revivemssupport.org.uk)
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a condition which can affect people in a whole range of ways and to differing degrees. Based in Govan, Revive MS Support provides wide range of information, support and specialist therapies which are designed to make life better for people affected by MS, no matter what their symptoms might be.
Speakers of all three organisations have been invited to talk to us on Sunday, 24th March during our morning worship. We will also have a Lenten Lunch on that Sunday in support of the Appeal.
